On October 24th, the Founding Conference and High-level Summit of Optical Fiber Access Industry Alliance was held in Beijing. Fiber-optic Access (FTTX) Industry Alliance aims to promote the rapid expansion of the FTTX industry, accelerate the growth of the industry and the application of FTTX. It aims to build a complete industrial chain and promote the exchange, cooperation and common development of members in the Alliance. Lou Qingjian, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the founding meeting of the Alliance that the opportunity for large-scale development of China's optical fiber access industry has been ripe, and it is hoped that the optical fiber access industry will become a new bright spot in the development of China's information industry.

The members of the alliance include major domestic telecom operators, major communication system, optical fiber cable, optoelectronic device manufacturers, communication engineering design units with strong research foundation in the field of optical communication, state key laboratories of optoelectronics and optical communication technology and some universities. The Alliance is affiliated with China Communication Standardization Association and its secretariat is located in Wuhan Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. After deliberation at the first meeting of the first council of the alliance, Zhou Baoxin, secretary general of China Communication Standardization Association, was elected as the president of the alliance, and Tong Guohua from Wuhan Academy of Posts and Sciences, Leng Rongquan from China Telecom, Teng Yong from China Unicom, and Jiang Lintao from China Telecom Research Institute were elected as the vice presidents of the alliance.

He said that in recent years, China's optical communications and related optoelectronics industries have enjoyed a good momentum of development. The world's advanced 40Gb/s SDH commercial optical communication system has been successfully developed and put into application, and the communication consumer optoelectronic products also show a healthy momentum of development. At present, more than 90% of the information in our country is transmitted through optical fiber, optical communication and related optoelectronics industry is becoming a new economic growth point to drive the entire information industry. Actively promoting the scale development of optical fiber access technology is of great significance for promoting the development of China's information industry, enhancing industrial innovation ability and core competitiveness. It can not only accelerate the popularization of broadband network, improve the national economy and information level, improve the quality of people's life and work, but also promote the integration of the three networks. It is conducive to the transformation of traditional telecom operation enterprises to integrated information service enterprises. He pointed out that the current broadband business in China is increasingly rich, the initial formation of market demand for optical fiber access, increasingly mature technology, the cost of continuous decline, scale promotion of optical fiber access technology has been completely feasible. Compared with other countries, China's optical fiber access technology started late, the scale of optical fiber to home users is not large. There is not a small gap in technical business innovation, core patent, core technology and other aspects, and there are obstacles in the system and control policies. Solving these problems requires the joint efforts of enterprises, scientific research institutes and government departments.

 

 

 

Lou Qinjian stressed that promoting the development of optical fiber access technology in the form of industrial alliance is another exploration to enhance the industry's independent innovation ability. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the management departments of the operating companies will give strong support to the development of the Alliance through development planning, industrial policies, and research and formulation of standards.
